C B D Music, Inc. seeks to advance public interest in and understanding of the musical arts through the presentation and promotion of new music. C B D Music, Inc. intends to present public concerts, commission new works, and support ensembles who perform new works. C B D Music, Inc. also intends to present lectures, discussions, classes, and workshops for musicians and for the general public.
In 2008 (the organization's first active season) C B D Music, Inc. presented three concerts and 10 world premieres. The following season CBD brought forth three more world premiers and a series of contemporary music concerts at Issue Project Room in Brooklyn and The Ontological-Hysteric Theater in Manhattan. Recent projects include the commissioning of a new 30-minute work by world renowned experimental harpist Zeena Parkins, Ne(x)tworks Live: Volume 1, the first of a series of CDs by the critically acclaimed creative music ensemble Ne(x)tworks, and Journaling, a CD of contemproary American violin music.
C B D Music, Inc. is a sponsored organization of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). NYFA is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization founded in 1971 to work with the arts community throughout New York State to develop and facilitate programs in all disciplines. NYFA will receive grants on behalf of C B D Music, Inc., ensure the use of grant funds in accordance with the grant agreements, and will provide program or financial reports as required.
